Photo by Reuters/KhamVietnam has drawn FDI worth $16.74 billion in the first five months of the year, the highest in the period since 2015. The registered foreign direct investment, which includes newly-registered capital, capital supplements and stake acquisitions, represents an increase of almost 70 percent year-on-year, the Ministry of Planning and Investment reported. Of the amount $6.46 billion went into 1,363 newly-registered projects, up 38.7 percent. Mergers and acquisitions were up 2.8 times at $7.65 billion. Hong Kong led with $5.08 billion, making up 30.4 percent of overall FDI in the period.
